Templewood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the statutory section of our website. We also follow The Keeping Children Safe in Education carefully. All appointments including volunteers working at Templewood are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
Our Designated Senior Person for Child Protection (DSP) is Miss Martindill (Headteacher) and our Deputy DSPs are Mrs Moore (SENCo) and Mrs Spragg (EYFS Leader).
Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023 update)
We understand that social media has become a big part of our lives and it is sentimental to have images of our children. However, we ask that you respect the needs of others in our community and any photos taken during school events are not posted on social media.
The only events at Templewood that we allow filming and photos are in Productions and Sports Day. Pupils with Hi-Vis hats on during Sports Day are not to be included in any images or filming please.
During Open Evenings and assemblies we kindly ask that you follow our 'no mobile phones' rule and that any images you wish to take of your child are done at the end of an assembly when the member of staff gives you permission. This must be of your own child.
If we see visitors with their phone out during events that are not permitted to be filmed or photographed we will ask you to put them away or, in serious circumstances, you may be asked to leave the premises until the performance is finished.
Please ensure you complete the Opt Out form if you do not wish to have any images taken of your child in our Productions or Sports Day events.
